AKA Latin Hustle, Hustle arose in the disco era, but has evolved to become a fun and uptempo partner dance that can be used for almost any type of fast paced music, including many Top 40 songs that you hear on the radio! It's versatility lends itself to be a great dance for socials, and it can be danced more casually to make time for conversation, or jazzed up with twirls and spins!
Rumba is a great dance to have in your wheelhouse as it is such a versatile dance for slow to mid-tempo music. It’s more of a stationary dance, which means it doesn’t travel around the dance floor in line of dance (counter-clockwise). This makes it a great choice for social events where the dance floor isn’t that large, or when there are a lot of dancers on the floor. The roots of Rumba are in social Latin dancing.
Tango is a dramatic dance with staccato accents that provide a nice contrast to some of the smoother, more fluid moves and step patterns. American and International style Tango, has more of a regular ballroom hold with a modification for the follower's left hand, versus a very close embrace which is specifically used for Argentine Tango. Tango is danced specifically to Tango music, the way Salsa is danced specifically to Salsa music (some ballroom/Latin dances can be danced to all types of genres).
